C5 Corvette Convertible 2003

50th Anniversary Edition

This special edition ‘Vette was launched to celebrate 50 years of legendary motoring history.

New for 2003 were sports seats, this Anniversary Edition getting stitched emblems in the ‘Shale’ leather interior, which compliments the Metallic Burgundy paint, Dual zone climate control and new Magnetic Selective Ride Control (MSRC) with special shockers that optimize ride and handling. This eliminated body roll and the front diving when braking. With Discs all round this C5 could brake from 60mph in 120 feet. Some stopping power. The 5.7 litre V8 with 350 bhp and a 6 speed manual could get it to the 60 mph marker in just 4.9 seconds. Throttle response is instantaneous, so much so that it is astonishingly easy to spin the wheels with every upshift! However, smooth cruising at motorway speeds can return a healthy 27 mpg.

In 2003 the Corvette range was 5 decades old, but this car was no middle aged sports car fraud and today is still fast, ferocious and fun.

This example has been cosseted and has covered only 6000 glorious sunny miles.
