Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible 1970
MY DELTA LADY
FOR SALE
The recipe is straight forward.
Take a rust free low mileage 1970 Olds Delta 88 Convertible, carry out a total restoration which includes a superb paint job finished in House of Kolours Cobalt Blue, install a brand new leather interior in mist grey, piped blue, new door panels, fit colour matched carpets embroidered ‘Delta 88’, and finish the interior with Dakota digital instruments and a Custom Billet steering wheel. Customise the trunk with the same mist grey leather and carpet treatment, add a new convertible top in white with a glass rear window, and you have made a good start.
Along the way have the 455 ci V8 completely rebuilt with new everything, bored .60 over, now 468 ci (7.7 litre) fit a mild cam, Mondello 8 quart oil sump, high volume oil pump, top it off with a new Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and Edelbrock Air Filter, Accel Hot HEI ignition module and billet distributor, Edelbrock manifold and valve covers, fit March air cleaner and serpentine pulley system. Take a break.
Mate this lot to a rebuilt 200R4 automatic transmission with electric overdrive and connect to a one piece aluminium drive shaft onto a rebuilt 3.55 LSD rear axle. Whilst under there fit a 2.5’’ stainless steel H-pipe exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, and admire the underside finished to the same standard as the top side. Then, for good measure install a Champion 3 Core aluminium radiator.
Fit all new suspension, slightly lowered for the correct stance, add Wilwood 12’’ Disc brakes all round and a new Master cylinder, then bolt on new US Mag wheels. Have lunch.
Fit everything that has been re-chromed and all the new shiny bits. Check your smile in the reflection, job done. Drive!
This is not a car, it is an Automobile, and a very cool one at that. This is one of 3,095 produced, so quite rare. Back in the day performance stats stated 0-60 mph in 6.5 secs and a top speed of 140 mph. So then it was quite swift but now with the upgrades it is just awesome!
