Originally announced in April 2019, the C8 was GM’s first rear mid-engine sports car since the Pontiac Fiero, this Corvette was reported as ‘vastly different’ in design from pervious Corvettes.
I would say radical.
Seven years later it has finally grown on me and looks fresh today! Two body styles are available, Targa top (removable) and convertible folding top.
This convertible has the 6.2 litre crossplane OHV V8, producing 490 horsepower and with the quick shifting dual clutch 8 speed auto delivers 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds and a top speed of 184 mph. The interior is ultra modern driver focused with high tech features. The front will lift at the touch of a button to override the speed bumps that we all love….
The mid-engine configuration provides two storage areas, a rear trunk large enough for two sets of golf clubs or a small suitcase and soft bags and a ‘frunk’ up front that would take a carry on case. Forget the golf clubs, there is enough room for a weekend away. Driving is believing, it is just superb to drive, smooth and responsive, very responsive, and very comfortable.
All Corvettes are cool, this one is amazing.
