Corvette C6 Grand Sport Convertible 60th Anniversary
The Corvette C6 Grand Sport was available from 2010 to 2013, and is often described as a sweet spot in the C6 line up, offering the best of the standard car and the higher performance of the Z06 and ZR1 models. Combining the Z06’s wide body styling and suspension and powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2 litre small block V8 LS3 motor with the option of either manual or automatic transmission.
With 435 HP on tap, the launch to 60mph comes in a rush at just 4.35 seconds, and 424 lb.ft of torque provides impressive pull, a bit like an F16.
The larger Z06 type brakes provide superior stopping power, just as well really with a top speed of 186 mph!
A Dual-mode exhaust system sounds just right when cruising but changes to an outrageous bellow when accelerated hard. A Tesla does not do that…..
The head up display even includes a G Meter, but if you are cornering hard you need to pay attention to where you are going, not to the G Meter.
Quite rare in the UK this low mileage 2013 example is a Special Edition 60th Anniversary model and has a manual 6 speed that has shorter gear ratios compared to the auto and is so nice to use. With just first and second gears all speed limits in the UK are easily exceeded.
On a long road trip the V8 is King, no need to stop to plug this in, anywhere.
Route 66 in a Corvette? Heaven!
